Couples Therapy
Our relationships can provide us with some of the most intimate experiences life has to offer. These same relationships can also give us the greatest pain as well.
I'm here to support your relationship at whatever stage you're in.
I currently work with the following couples:
-
Premarital Counseling: if you're thinking about or are currently planning for marriage, my approach will provide your relationship with the space to reflect, prepare, and cultivate all that is necessary as you enter into the next chapter of your relationship.
-
High-Conflict Couples: if your relationship seems to be perpetually in conflict or involves difficulties managing strong emotions that results in unproductive conflict, my approach involves giving your relationship the tools and skills to approach conflicts effectively.
-
Conscious Uncoupling: if your relationship has ended or is currently in the process of ending, couples therapy can provide your relationship with the space to work together to process and intentionally plan the ending of your relationship.
I do this by using my training and experience to work with you to apply evidence-based practices to the particular issues impacting your relationship. To ensure that our work is effective, I regularly monitor progress and make adjustments as needed.
Starting this work involves scheduling a time for a free, 20-minute phone call or Zoom meeting to talk and see if we might be a good match.

Because therapy involves a commitment to engaging in deep and difficult work, this is a very personal decision for each person in the relationship
Maybe you're each feeling stuck, are having a tougher time managing challenges in your relationship, or you're both noticing that you're running into the same problematic patterns and, despite your best efforts, aren't making any progress. These are just some of things that can motivate a couple to consider couples therapy.
The short answer is, it depends. Depending on the issue, therapy could be brief (5 - 10 sessions), several months, or a long-term process lasting several years.
Determining the length of treatment is done through our initial sessions by getting to know you, learning about your particular issue(s) and exploring your goal(s) for therapy.
